westvanflowerIt was a fantastic weekend down at the Club as the greens were running great and the weather was fabulous. First of all thank you to the Gardening Committee, headed by Roberta Stitt and thank you to one of our members for photographing the gorgeous fruits of all their hard work ! Secondly, thank you to Noreen Tilley for agreeing to convene our first Toonie competition of the season, on Saturday.  Lot of fun as always –

1st –  Waldo Zappa/Graham Thomas/Diana Becker
2nd –  Pat Chapman/Jim Irvine/Don Parker
3rd –  Werner Fladl/Don Beck/Mary Kempton

BC +55 Games

As you know in August the BC 55+ Games are being held in North Vancouver.   On Sunday there were Play-Offs for the Men’s Pairs and the Mixed Triples.  Don Beck and Roger Horn played two close games losing to the North Van Men’s Pairs.   Sydney Hope and Marilyn Rich won their two qualifying games vs North Van and Tsawwassen. They now qualify for the Games in August, as do Werner Fladl, Stephen Lampman and Sue Hall who lost their first game but won the next two in the Mixed Triples.  Howie and Pat Chapman, playing with Laurence and Lynn Leedham in the Mixed Fours will also be there, they were unchallenged !WestVanTea

Across town and Vancouver South LBC, Tim Mason and Steve Santana were playing in the Open Premier Pairs – winning all of their first five games they were narrowly defeated in the final due to an aggregate score.

Victorian Tea

And today, sitting on our terrace, after a gloriously sunny game of bowls, we toasted Queen Victoria with our tea and the odd glass of wine !  So many thanks to our bakers, Susan Lewis, Jane Cramond, Iona Copping and Marion Ladkin, and to everyone else who makes the clear up job SO easy !
