NOTICE OF 2022 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING FOR

West Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club

AGM DATE: Saturday November 19, 2022

Clubhouse 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Dear Members,

This the official NOTICE of our 2022 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, pursuant to s.97 of the Societies Act and s.3.3 of our By-Laws.  

The meeting will be held at the Clubhouse, 650 20th St, W Vancouver, BC V7V 3Y4, on November 19, 2022, from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm.

Who comes to the AGM, and what happens?

The AGM is for all voting members of the Club.  That is, our Regular members (including new members, both croquet and bowling), Lions Club Members and Life Members.  Our By-Laws require a quorum of 25% of the voting members for the AGM.  According to our current fee receipt data we require a minimum of 38 voting members attending to meet quorum.  

The AGM is an important meeting.  The ordinary business of the AGM includes the receiving of reports from the current (outgoing) Board on the past year’s activities and the election or appointment of new Directors for the Board for the coming year.  It is the voting members responsibility to elect or appoint that new Board.  The new Board commences its responsibilities upon adjournment of the AGM on November 19, 2022.    

Proxy voting is permitted (By-law 3.15).  The voting for the new Board is done at the AGM, mostly by the voting members in attendance.  However, our by-laws also permit voting members to vote by proxy, by appointing another voting member to vote on their behalf.  A Proxy Vote Form is included with this Notice and may be used by voting members who want their vote heard, but who are unable to attend personally at the AGM.

Proposals for new Directors will be distributed at the meeting along with copies of the minutes from 2020 and 2021.
